DAY 3 - Riga, Kaunas

We started the day leaving Riga, Latvia at 09:00 am and got our way to Kaunas, Lithuania. 

The bus travel lasted 6 hours, but we stopped in the middle of the way at the hill of crosses, which is a site of Pilgrimag. After that we went to Kaunas, one of the biggest cities in Lithuania. Arriving there we had lunch and after we did a guided tour in the city.

The guide showed us the Freedom Avenue, which is the main shopping avenue in the city. The first stop, after that, was a panoramic view of Kaunas and we had some time to take pictures. Right after that we went to one of the oldest churches in the city while visiting the old town. One of the churches we visited was the cathedral of St. Peter and Paul, then the Town Hall Square and the Kaunas Castle. They gave us free time to walk around and shop in the Town Hall Square. 

We came back to the hotel around 7 p.m. and we had free time until 10:30 p.m. 

During that time we were able to have dinner and shop wherever we wanted. Most of us went to a traditional restaurant of Lithuanian food called “Bernelių Užeiga”. The restaurant was really good and cheap compared to Finland. This day itself was very interesting and fun.

We would highly recommend to visit the city, it is really pretty and historical. We had a great time there!

DAY 2 - Riga

5.6.2019

Today was our first whole day in Latvia. 

In the morning spent our time in Riga. After breakfast we had a sightseeing tour on the bus, Our tour guide was amazing! The first stop was a panorama view in the city on the riverside. It was a surprising view. We didn't expect it to look like that. We continued on the bus tour until we got to the old town. Then we had a two hour walk through the beautiful buildings. We took lot's of pictures with our friends. 

We were all in a hurry after, because we had lunch at 1.00 pm and after that walk we definitely needed the food. While we were at the hotel we got changed for the beach! There we got the change to swim in the freezing, cold water and tan on the sandy shores in Jurmala. 

Now we are heading back to the hotel and we will have free time to explore the city on our own. When that's done we will go to sleep and dream about tomorrow's journey to Lithuania.
