DAY 6 - Warsaw, Krakow

9.6.2019

We had an early morning and breakfast in the hotel before a bus ride from Warsaw to Krakow (about 5 hours). We arrived and had a traditional lunch at a local restaurant/hotel. We then visited the Wieliczka salt mines in the area, which is one of the 12 objects on UNESCO's world cultural and natural heritage list. We toured for about 2 and half hours and it was really amazing to see 700 years of history. A favourite in the mines was the largest underground church in Europe, which had many sculptures made of salt as well as elaborate chandeliers and artwork from local students. Everyone was happy to catch the elevator back after walking steps down to 160m below the surface.

After a short bus ride hotel we had free time in the evening. Most of us chose to walk around the stunning old town (which features a large church tower and many birds in the square) and visit local restaurants for traditional cuisine (or pizza in some cases!).

The sunset was beautiful and the city is very unique. We all feel as though we could spend far longer in this beautiful city.

DAY 5 - Warsaw

8.6.2019

Today we had a buffet breakfast at the Ibis hotel and then we had a guided tour around the city of Warsaw from 9.30-13.00. During the tour we saw many great monuments and learned many new things about important historical events in Poland. We had really amazing tour guides who both had a great sense of humor that made the tour a lot more enjoyable. It was a super HOT day and we did a LOT of walking.

After the tour we spent some time eating lunch at Dawne Smaki restauracja polska. There we ate Pierogis, soup, a mixture of Meats, various side dishes, and cake for dessert. Then we had free time to explore the city of Warsaw more. Some places people visited was the Gay Pride Parade, the Arkadia mall, the Vistula river or some local stores.
